On 15 March 2019, Institute of Management Technology (IMT) Hyderabad held the Convocation ceremony for its seventh batch (2017-19) of students, who have completed their Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), PGDM-Finance and PGDM-Marketing programs. The Chief Guest for this occasion was Shri Sanjiv Mehta, the Chairman and Managing Director, Hindustan Unilever Limited, who would soon be appointed as President of Unilever, South Asia and a member of the Unilever Leadership Executive (ULE).
Besides the presence of distinguished dignitaries, Director and Dean of IMT-Hyderabad, the auditorium was filled with the excited students, their joyous parents and the proud faculty members, who were all exuberant on this auspicious occasion. The convocation ceremony started with the lighting of the lamp and Saraswati vandana. While addressing the students, Shri Sanjiv Mehta advised them that they have a huge amount of responsibility on their shoulders and that they have to be resilient and not be afraid of failing. His lesson to the students was that “to survive in this fast changing world, you have to keep evolving and be a learner throughout your lives.”
The Director of IMT Hyderabad, Prof. (Dr.) Satish Ailawadi, presented to the audience the annual report of IMT Hyderabad for the academic year 2018-19. Emphasising on the social responsibility aspects, he urged the students to “apply your knowledge not only for the prosperity of the organizations that you will be working with, but also for the upliftment of the down trodden and betterment of society… strive hard not only to achieve your personal and professional goals but also make this country a better place to live.”
The ceremony then continued with the announcements of medal winners for various PGDM programs during the academic year 2018-19. This was followed by PGDM certificate presentation to each of the qualified student by the Chief Guest. The ceremony was concluded with the recitation of the national anthem.
On 7 March 2018, Institute of Management Technology (IMT) Hyderabad held the Convocation ceremony for its sixth batch (2016-18) comprising of 188 students, who have completed their Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM). The Chief Guest for this occasion was Mrs. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Chairperson and Managing Director, Biocon. Among the distinguish guests who were present on this occasion was Shri Kamal Nath, Member of Parliament and President, Governing Council of the IMT Group.
Besides the presence of distinguished dignitaries, Dean and Director of IMT-Hyderabad, the auditorium was filled with the excited students, their joyous parents and the proud faculty members who were all exuberant on this auspicious occasion. While addressing the students, Mrs. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw advised them not to be perturbed by job losses due to artificial intelligence (AI). She said whenever new technologies came some job losses do happen, but many better jobs are created in their place by the advent of the new technology. She told the students that goals and ambitions should be followed with a sense of purpose. According to her a successful drug is not which has earned billion dollars, but has served a billion people.
During his address, Shri Kamal Nath encouraged the students to adapt to the change, but cautioned them to become change agent of positive change. An important word of advice which he gave to the students was “to stay level headed on a good day and strong headed on a bad day”.
The Director of IMT Hyderabad, Dr. Satish Ailawadi, presented to the audience the annual report of IMT Hyderabad for the academic year 2017-18. He highlighted that one of the most significant achievements this year was that PGDM programs of IMT Hyderabad were accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). While addressing the graduating class of 2018, he expressed his desire that these students would not just be a cog in a big machine as many of his generations were, but would be a node in a vibrant network of engaged individuals.
