Dr. Irfan Ahmad Shah is an Assistant Professor of Economics at IMT Hyderabad. Prior to this job, he was an Assistant Professor in the School of Business Management, NMIMS Hyderabad. He has done his M Phil and Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University and has been actively researching in the areas of Monetary Economics, Inflation, and International Macroeconomics. Some of the areas that he has investigated include inflation dynamics in India, its welfare implications, the relationship between inflation and openness, the conduct and transmission mechanism of monetary policy, especially in the Indian context and the effect of remittances on Indian economy. This research has been published in internationally renowned peer-reviewed journals such as Empirical Economics (ABDC, A), Studies in Nonlinear Dynamics and Econometrics (ABDC, A), International Economics and Economic Policy (ABDC B) and other journals including Journal of Quantitative Economics (ABDC B) and Macroeconomics and Finance in the Emerging Market Economies (ABDC C). He was also a visiting scholar at the University of Ghent (Belgium) where he worked with Prof. Gert Peersman, advisor to the ECB and Bank of Belgium. He also worked at IGIDR Mumbai with Dr. Tanya Ghosh under the visiting scholar’s program.
