Dr.Shailendra Kumar Joshi, current advisor and former Chief Secretary, Government of Telangana delivered a talk on “People Centric Governance” on March 24, 2021 at our campus. Dr.S.K.Joshi has been part of the civil services for 37 years and has been involved in the implementation of several large infrastructure projects like Mission Bhagiratha, and Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project in Telangana. He has represented India in many international negotiations and was associated with the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development at Rio de Janerio in 1992 and with the United Nations Conference on sustainable development at Johannesburg in 2002. The session on ‘People Centric Governance’ was thought provoking and highly appreciated by our faculty members. Governments of the day need to realize that governance is a function of individual, institution, and processes assessed on citizen centric outcomes. Governments at different levels can leverage technology in facilitating “People Centric Governance” thereby realizing ‘Su-raj’. The theme of the lecture was highly contextual keeping in mind the implementation issues with large infrastructure projects.
