Innovation in Eyecare and the Importance of Socially Responsible Business Leaders in Healthcare led by Dr. Ramesh Kekunnaya
IMT Hyderabad, 22nd January 2025: Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Hyderabad, hosted an insightful Leadership Lecture Series on "Innovation in Eyecare and the Importance of Socially Responsible Business Leaders in Healthcare," led by Dr. Ramesh Kekunnaya, Director of Centre for Technology Innovation and of Child Sight Institute (CSI) at LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI). A visionary leader in eye care, Dr. Kekunnaya is renowned for his transformative contributions to paediatric ophthalmic care.
Dr. Kekunnaya explored the potential of innovation and social responsibility in healthcare, emphasizing support for emerging entrepreneurs and transformative technologies. He stressed the need for ethical, sustainable practices to ensure equitable healthcare access. Highlighting his institute's impactful work, he showcased products like LOKI for frame selection and FoFo eye screening systems that have made a significant difference. He outlined the LVPEI's vision of "bridging the gaps in technology solutions" and reinforced that social responsibility is key to addressing health disparities and promoting public health. He concluded by urging the audience to collaborate, noting that a clear vision makes success possible.
The discussion further delved into an engaging Q&A session, where Dr. Ramesh Kekunnaya addressed resistance to technology, emphasizing stakeholder engagement, efficient resource use, and innovation while highlighting MBA graduates' role in entrepreneurship and operational efficiency in healthcare.
The event culminated in an awards ceremony, where Dr. Kekunnaya honoured students of the 2023–2025 batch for the Best Internship Project, recognizing Ayush Singh (First Place) and Kandadai Vadhoolasa, Anand Ramanathan and Raunak Singhi (Second Place) in Finance; Mohan Pramod Garje (First Place) in General Management; M. Sherly (First Place) and Hindol Mukherjee (Second Place) in Human Resource; Diya Joseph (First Place) and Srujana Kulkarni (Second Place) in Operations; and Aryan Dubey (First Place) and Ratul Mondal (Second Place) in Sales and Marketing.
Winners of the SBI IdeationX, a team comprising Anand Ramanathan, Anshu Mimani, Shubham Kumar Singh, Shruti Kumari Goyal, and Mahesh Dhanuka, were also recognized with tokens of appreciation for their outstanding achievements by Dr. Kekunnaya.
The faculties at IMT Hyderabad were applauded for their exceptional guidance and dedication, receiving tokens of appreciation from Prof. (Dr.) Sriharsha Reddy K, Director at IMT Hyderabad.
