Eco-Business Blueprint: Building a Sustainable Future in Egypt by Indian Entrepreneurs

Hyderabad, 23rd February 2025: The Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Hyderabad, hosted the second session of its Global Immersion Program, featuring an engaging session led by Dr. Ibrahim El-Ghanam, an Entrepreneurship and Leadership Consultant at Reyada Academy in Egypt. The session was titled "Eco-Business Blueprint: Building a Sustainable Future in Egypt by Indian Entrepreneurs" and was expertly coordinated by Prof. (Dr.) Nitin Gupta.

Dr. Ibrahim delivered an insightful presentation on businesses in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and Egypt’s sustainability strategies. He highlighted the diverse economic landscape of MENA, its key business hubs, and challenges such as high unemployment and economic disparities. He emphasized Egypt’s economic reforms and its burgeoning startup ecosystem and reported $500 million in venture capital funding in 2022. In discussing sustainability, he outlined Egypt’s initiatives in solar energy, carbon capture, water-efficient agriculture, electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, and eco-friendly tourism. With rapid advancements in crucial sectors, Dr. Ibrahim underscored the vital role of innovation and private sector involvement in driving sustainable growth and economic resilience in the region.

His presentation also highlighted the increasing participation of Indian eco-businesses in Egypt, showcasing significant investments in chemicals, renewable energy, waste management, and sustainable agriculture. He presented projects such as Renew Power's 500 MW solar farm and EcoCentric's waste-to-energy plant, emphasizing their sustainability and economic impact. Despite challenges like regulatory barriers and inflation, collaborations between India and Egypt continue to thrive due to government incentives and cultural adaptability. Dr. Ibrahim outlined key steps for planning international ecological businesses, stressing the importance of market research, sustainability strategies, and financial viability. He concluded by stating that strategic partnerships and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives are essential for fostering long-term, sustainable economic growth.

The session ended with an interactive Q&A segment, allowing IMT Hyderabad students to engage directly with the speaker. Prof. (Dr.) Nitin Gupta concluded the event by expressing his gratitude to Dr. Ibrahim for his valuable insights and the wealth of knowledge he shared with the students.
