Distinguished Speaker Series by Shri V C Sajjanar
IMT Hyderabad, 13th March 2024: Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Hyderabad had the honor of hosting Shri V C Sajjanar, IPS, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), for an enlightening discussion on the theme of "People Centric Businesses: Journey of TSRTC."
Shri V C Sajjanar commenced the session by sharing insightful anecdotes from his extensive experience as a police officer, having served in five different districts across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He drew inspiration from John F Kennedy's timeless words, "Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country," which guided his dedicated service to the nation. Notably, he played a pivotal role in uncovering a ₹100 crore real estate scam during his tenure. As a CID Superintendent, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to justice, he investigated the fraud done by multi-level marketing companies.
Transitioning to his role at TSRTC, Shri V C Sajjanar outlined his four key goals: Employee-centric approach, Customer-centric approach, Diversification, and Operational efficiency. Under his leadership, TSRTC prioritized the welfare of its employees by introducing initiatives such as free health services to address the health challenges that bus drivers face due to prolonged sitting hours.
In line with a customer-centric approach, TSRTC introduced complimentary washroom facilities at bus stops and refrained from displaying any potentially offensive advertisements on buses to ensure a safe and comfortable environment, particularly for female passengers. Moreover, the corporation abolished surcharges during festivals and sought public feedback for continuous improvement. Workshops were conducted to enhance employee-customer interactions, fostering a culture of professionalism and courtesy.
Recognizing the significance of digitalization, Shri V C Sajjanar oversaw the implementation of an ERP system and launched the TSRTC mobile app, streamlining operations and enhancing customer experience. Furthermore, the speaker reflected on how TSRTC ventured into revenue diversification by introducing millet-based snacks and bottled mineral water, contributing to its profitability.
In his closing remarks, Shri V C Sajjanar encouraged students to pursue their passions with dedication, emphasizing the irreplaceable value of hard work. The session ended with an engaging Q&A session, providing students with further insights into TSRTC's transformative journey. The speaker's accomplishments served as an inspiration for students to relentlessly pursue their dreams.
