Hyderabad, 26th January 2020: The second day of Ace Connect commenced on an even more promising and exhilarating note. The campus was abuzz with activities and the various teams were gearing up to emerge as the ultimate champions in their respective games. The fact that the second day coincided with the seventy-first Republic Day celebrations at the IMT campus only made everything better as the campus came together to conclude not only this two-day saga of the corporates taking on the field but also celebrate the seventy-first Republic Day with absolute pomp and show.
The day witnessed intense competition as the teams from the corporate world contested in the following sports.
Volleyball
The corporates put forward their A-game in volleyball. Spiking, blocking, jumping – these were not just words, but their emotions that translated into action on the field as they found their way to the concluding matches of the game. Teams from Microsoft, Infosys, Oracle and HSBC qualified for the semi-finals with Infosys and Oracle reaching the finals. Victory was claimed by Team Infosys with a score of 2-1. “Teamwork is something that is very important. Just like in sports, the dynamics of the teams keep changing even in the corporate world and you need to collaborate with different varieties of people throughout.” Suhas, a software engineer from Microsoft drew this analogy between sports and work.
Cricket
The energy of both the participants and the crowd was on a different level altogether on the second day of Ace Connect. Teams from NPCI, Tata Capital, Accion Labs sweated it out on the field to take home the cup of glory for one of the most loved sports - cricket. The final match between Accion Labs and Tata Capital was especially an exciting one because both the teams gave each other a neck to neck competition with Accion Labs emerging the final winners. “I am a fresher and IMT Hyderabad is providing us an opportunity to remove all the stress and enjoy. We love to be a part of Ace Connect and hope to be even in the future.” said Mr. Dilip Singh, software developer at Accion Labs.
Basketball
Stamina, endurance and a never say die spirit – these are the elements which best describes the game of basketball and these traits were evident on the field as Team TCS and Team IMT-H took each other on in an engaging and nail-biting match. Team TCS claimed the winning trophy with a score of 65-24.
Carrom
“Everybody considers carrom a home game and do not take it seriously, but I want to promote carrom and it is my passion.” This is what Mr. Mohan from Dr. Mohan’s Diabetic Centre feels about the game. IMT Hyderabad strongly resonates with this opinion that the game helps with strategy, decision making and improving concentration and is more than just a casual game.
The team from Dr. Mohan’s Diabetic Centre won the doubles tournament and Mr. Aditya H from Ariston Filtration Systems won the singles tournament.
IMT Hyderabad continued its tradition of hosting a marvelous closing ceremony. A string of performances by Team Dhwani – the music cohort, Team Dhanak – the dance cohort and Team Navrang – the drama cohort of Antragna – the cultural club of IMT-H, proved to be a relaxing conclusion and helped in reviving the spirits of the participants after a long hot day spent entirely on the field. The closing ceremony ended with the prize distribution of the events and the teams from the corporate left with exciting prizes and memories to cherish for a lifetime.
IMT Hyderabad eagerly awaits to host the eighth edition of Ace Connect as the campus bid adieu to the seventh edition that left everyone with unmatched experiences and lessons learnt.
