Hyderabad, 26 January 2021: Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Hyderabad, celebrated the 72nd Republic Day with ardour and fervour. In honour of this day, the campus was decked up in tricolour ribbons, and the national flag was hoisted by our Director Prof. (Dr.) M. Venkateshwarlu, after which he gave a thought-provoking address.
In his address, the Director iterated, "On this day, today the country transitioned into becoming a sovereign republic. India thus celebrates Republic Day to commemorate the day the Government of India Act set by the British Raj was replaced by the Indian Constitution as the governing document of Bharat as a republic, on January 26 every year." He emphasized that this is a mere start, beginning little by little from somewhere since the advent of Covid-19. He was hopeful that all future events could be celebrated with such passion together under the common roof of IMT-Hyderabad, following all safety protocols properly.
After the address from Director Sir, the event started with a performance from Dhwani, the Music cohort of Antragna. The singers sang, and it was after the melodic tunes that had everyone mesmerised that we had the national anthem. The team from Dhwani charged up the patriotic moment as the national anthem played and made sure that the online medium did not dampen the Republic Day spirit. The performance from the dance cohort, Dhanak, followed. The presentation by Dhanak, the dance society, showcased various cultural dances native to India. Some non-native dance forms were on display as well, which added to the environment of enjoyment. The event was concluded by a performance by Navrang, the Drama cohort. A play was presented through the online mode which, compensated for the much-needed vibe of a live on-stage performance.
The republic day event showed the vast pool of talent that IMT Hyderabad houses. Students at IMT Hyderabad truly felt inspired, soaking in nationalistic enthusiasm on the Republic Day event arranged by Team Antragna, the cultural club of IMT Hyderabad.
