Can Google Gemini Beat ChatGPT

On 6th December’2023, Google released something known as Gemini Pro. This was a massive step in the tech world because Google faced an existential crisis last December, and we all know why. The reason was ChatGPT.

Until now, Google has been a monopoly in the search market with a 91% market share and 4.1 billion users, but suddenly, OpenAI came in and disrupted the entire search engine market. But most people will argue that ChatGPT barely has 180 million users, which is 23 times smaller than Google users, so why would google be worried? But ChatGPT is the world's fastest-growing consumer app. Instagram took 2.5 years to reach 100 million users, and TikTok took nine months. ChatGPT took only 60 days to reach 100 million users. It will scrape off 25 % of Google's market share at this rate. Most importantly, ChatGPT has Microsoft as its cash support, which has a reputation for killing companies with its business tactics.

So, how did this AI war start?

Back in 2014, Google invested in Deep Mind 500$ million, and in 2019, Microsoft played its game by investing 1$ billion in OpenAI. The deal was that OpenAI could use Microsoft's cloud infrastructure to build AI, and in return, Microsoft would use this to earn money. This is where the war started. Despite heavily investing in AI before Microsoft and generating its version of the chatbot two years before ChatGPT, Google didn't release its version of ChatGPT because it was concerned about safety.

Now, we all know ChatGPT learns from us; the more we use it, the more intelligent it gets. It became a threat to Google as a search engine. So, very hastily, Google releases Bard. But Bard was so pathetic that Google lost 100$ billion in one day. But Google didn't give up and released Gemini.

Gemini has been called a ChatGPT killer in the market. But, WHY??

Gemini works with natively multi-modal systems, i.e., it can handle various data types. In contrast, ChatGPT works with multi-modal systems and can hold only one type of data; other features are added later. So, Gemini was built to handle all kinds of data from the start, whereas in ChatGPT, they were added later. It is more likely that Gemini outperforms ChatGPT.

Now, Gemini has three versions. Gemini Nano is a lightweight version that can easily be used in Android smartphones and run without an internet connection. Gemini Pro is a heavy-duty version that is the brain behind Google AI services. Gemini Ultra is the most powerful version designed for data centers and businesses, which the ChatGPT still needs to get.

Gemini has the extraordinary computing powers of Google, which is five times more than OpenAI and will be 20 times more in the next year. As a result, it can learn and evolve much quicker and better than chat GPT.

These are the reasons why Gemini has been considered better than ChatGPT.
