Abhyuday 2024

“The fireworks begin today. Each diploma is a lighted match; each one of you is a fuse.” -Ed Koch

“In corporate, we say everything starts with an email.” Getting shortlisted was a jolt, but the real spark came when I got an interesting email regarding the Management Orientation Program, or, as we fondly refer to it, ABHYUDAY. I was wondering what the induction process would bring out. I could hardly contain my excitement as I reached the college gate for registration, where I received my MOP timetable, marking the start of an exhilarating journey.

On the 19th of June, we woke up to a fine morning and rushed to the auditorium for the inaugural address by the guests and our director. The hall was full of students who waited with bated breath for the program's start. The inauguration ceremony began with the traditional lighting of a lamp. A melodious Saraswati Vandana, guest addresses, and presentation of mementos followed this. Although the day had concluded, the night awaited us with its promise of more experiences. After dinner, we gathered in the amphitheatre to relish the pleasant weather. The atmosphere was so healthy, full of all kinds of student groups—jamming, singing, and dancing. We were fuller, soaking well in the vibe.

Next came the workshops on Excel and PowerPoint, along with sessions on the basics of economics, accounting, marketing, and statistics. These were supposed to help students coming from diverse backgrounds adjust to the upcoming course and for the faculty to understand the new cohort. There were many guest lectures by distinguished personalities and industry experts. One of my favourites was by Mr. Duvvuri Subbarao (the former RBI Governor). They provided valuable insights into the financial situation and work-life balance.

The ice-breaking sessions and outbound activities were designed to help us bond with our batchmates, and they exceeded all expectations. The first weekend began with a thrilling visit to Hidden Castle Resort, where every moment was filled with excitement and adventure. From the gate-opening game to the stage performances by our friends, the day was a whirlwind of adventure and laughter. We battled it out in Tug of War, embraced the energy of the Hakka Dance, splashed around in water activities, and ended the day dancing in the rain. The following week, we visited an NGO, which offered a humbling experience. These activities didn't just break the ice—they built lasting memories and solidified the sense of camaraderie among us.

With this, our MOP concludes, and the academic session begins.
