Outbound Activities, 8th and 9th July, 2011 Rappelling, river crossing, tent building and treasure hunt were a few activities we never thought we’ll be doing at the IMT Hyderabad campus. Yet here we were in front of a team of people standing in our campus and giving us the details about these fun events spread over 2 days (8th and 9th July 2011). The first fun filled activity meant for the first batch of IMT Hyderabad.
“Odyssey Wonder” the organisers of these activities consisted of Pratibha and Chandan (Alumni’s of XLRI), Vijay, Vinod, Asmita and Vivek. It is an organisation which conducts various outbound adventure based activities in various institutions across the country.
The 120 students of IMT Hyderabad were clubbed into a total of 6 teams (A- F) and a team leader for each of these were picked (Team A- Samiksha; Team B- Pallavi, Team C-Manju ; Team D- Prachi; Team E- Pragya; Team F- Malvika ). The evening had activities like tent building, ice breaking and bon fire. The main purpose of these activities was getting to know each other and team building. It was interesting to see how the teams got down to building the tent with the tent gear provided. With group effort they were able to pitch the tent. Though not perfect, it stood well on the ground.

When I was driving here on this beautiful road, I was looking at the greenery around and I realized how prescient you are. You wanted to make Andhra a hub of education in India. I have seen many of the biotechnology institutes in this part of the state and how they are world class and I am sure this virgin land will be the centre of knowledge in the coming 15 to 20 years and there will be a cluster of institutions here which will interact with each other. These institutions will bring about a kind of multi disciplinary knowledge that is required to solve the problems of India.
