FPM Inauguration Ceremony

Hyderabad, 2nd August 2021: Institute of Management Technology, Hyderabad, inaugurated the pioneer batch of Fellow Programme in Management on 2nd August 2021 virtually. The event began with Prof. (Dr.) Romina Mathew welcoming the guest of honor, Dr. M Rammohan Rao and Dr. Mithileshwar Jha. It was followed by garlanding the statue of Sri Mahendranathji to mark the occasion by continuing the legacy of the institution established by him.

The session commenced with a batch address by Prof. (Dr.) Sourabh Bhattacharya, Chairperson – Admissions & Alumni Relations. He iterated the achievement of the IMT group in its ability to commence the FPM Program, as it had been a cherished dream since its inception. Prof. (Dr.) Venkata Chakrapani C, Chairperson - PGP program, addressed the batch by congratulating them and expressing happiness in the program's successful implementation.

Prof. (Dr.) Debadutta Kumar Panda, Chairperson – FPM, addressed the batch by complementing the academic integrity and rigor of the program. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to IMT Hyderabad's educational mentors, who helped foster a research culture that meets global standards. He exemplified that the launch of such a program aligns with the international standards, making it elite in its existent arena. He highlighted that the institute boasts a research-oriented faculty and has well-published professors who made it possible to incorporate the first batch of research scholars and are expected to set the high benchmarks for future batches.

Prof. (Dr.) Sriharsha Reddy, Dean (Academics) & Director Designate, also addressed the session, stating that it took ten years to materialize the program from the ideation stage. Thus, the vision continues to be about nurturing quality business leaders of tomorrow. Reflected by the conscious choice of choosing only two such scholars as a part of the pioneer batch to begin their FPM, a four-year-long doctorate program at IMT Hyderabad. The academic rigor and elaborate research orientation that the program encompasses are expected to help the students acquire the required knowledge, skills, and attributes, in the four years of the program, hence, becoming the most sought-after byproduct for the institution, the world, and the community.

The session also witnessed the eminent speakers impart their wisdom and years of managerial experience. Dr. Mithileshwar Jha, an IIM Ahmedabad Alumnus, began by welcoming everyone and onboarding the students. He expressed his views on the functioning of the doctoral program in stark contrast to a post-graduate program. He emphasized the importance

of questioning everything and how a mere "Why" is essential irrespective of being a scholar, an academician, a teacher, or a business leader. The key to success on this path is to keep one's curiosity alive and to run the marathon with passion and rigor.

Dr. M Rammohan Rao, Former Dean & Professor Emeritus, Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, and Former Director, Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, addressed the students by expressing his pleasure in meeting the fraternity of IMT Hyderabad. The scholarly nature of the man, a person with very high ethical standards and tremendous humility, urged the students to thoroughly know the fundamentals and persevere through their journey of being a research scholar, a journey that does not come easy and has hurdles of its own in every step of the way. He also highlighted the importance of making their way into the corporate world by making research-oriented choices in their futures in the business world.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Prof. (Dr.) Nikhil Rastogi, Professor – Finance, wherein he expressed gratitude to the keynote speakers for sharing their knowledge and wisdom in the form of nuggets of information encompassing several decades of academic experience.
