Clubs and Events
Life at IMT Hyderabad is characterized by a high level of involvement by students in a wide variety of activities, both inside and outside of the classroom. The warm and friendly atmosphere is a function of the shared responsibility and understanding among students, faculty and staff.

Student self-governance is a hallmark of the institute. The many clubs in the institute are student initiated and governed. These clubs provide the students with the opportunities to refine their leadership and organizational management experience, contribute to community, explore interests, and make friendships that will last a lifetime.

These clubs are:

“Athena”,the Philosophy club - The purpose of the club is to inculcate a philosophical bent of mind, a knack for being able to “see” the big picture and have the necessary conviction to own up responsibility for actions – all ingredients necessary for a ‘Corporate Chanakya’.

“Aurom”, the communications club – The purpose of the club is to provide students with various exciting opportunities to use their communication skills. It defines its scope as (a) Recognizing, fostering, and rewarding talent related to oral, written and visual communication (b)Image building and brand presentation of IMT Hyderabad.

“C.O.S”, Circle of Sports, the sports club – The purpose of the club is to provide access to sports facilities on the campus. It defines its purpose as promoting health, team spirit, and leadership.

“Antragna”, the cultural club - The purpose of the club is to provide opportunities to the students to appreciate and display their talent. Taking a broad view of different forms of artistic creation, the club sub-divides itself into four clusters: Dhwani – The Singing troupe; Dhanak – The Dance troupe; Aakriti – The painters, photographers and film editors; and NavRang – The theatre group.

“Prarambh”, the entrepreneurship club – The purpose of the club is to identify talents and spread knowledge among individuals who seek to take up entrepreneurship as their career option; to create effective research to market linkages for accelerated actualization of potential of innovations; and to identify unique business opportunities.

“PAHEL”, People for Advocacy of Health, Environment & Literacy, the Corporate Social Responsibility club – The purpose of the club is to strengthen network and linkages between and among students, the community and socially responsible corporates, NGOs and other formal and informal institutions. The club has its focus on health, education and hygiene as the primary vehicles for building capabilities and expanding the available opportunities for development.

“Mercatus Mantra”, the marketing club – The club has been incorporated to facilitate the understanding of various facets of marketing through fun-based informative events.

Finance club –The club’s main objectives include, organizing seminars, Conducting events, games, simulations and workshops in the area of finance.

Student Welfare committee – The role of the committee is to collect and share information relating to student welfare matters; initiate, develop, co-ordinate and evaluate programs that promote student welfare; co-ordinate and communicate with teachers, parents and students on matters concerning the welfare of students.

Mess committee – The role of the committee is to ensure the smooth functioning of the mess with specific focus on the menu and hygiene.


Some of the events organized by the student clubs include:
  • Visit to nearby village to meet & interact with underprivileged children
  • Painting competition for small children from the village
  • Blood Donation Camp on the campus on September 5, where a total of 35 donors participated
  • Nominating students to attend start- up recognition and mentoring program titled: “Tata Group and NEN Launches First Dot” slotted for 1st Oct at Hyderabad Nominating students to attend the NEN E leader workshop on September 24 as part of the NEN initiatives.
  • Cultural programs and food festival on Independence day and teachers day
  • Business Plan competition to start up a cafeteria on campus. The selected three entries made their presentation on Aug 12, 2011. Debates
  • Cricket match, Kite flying competition
  • Ganesh puja celebrations
  • “Flashback”, where 11 teams participated to test their knowledge with respect to not-so-new advertisements, brands, taglines etc.
  • “Lets Go Launch!” wherein teams showed their creative and innovative sides by attempting to promote innovative uses of sundry objects.
  • “Life at IMT” competition which called in entries from students to showcase their life at IMT-Hyderabad campus through video clips shot by them.
