We wake up to new mornings each day after few hours of sleep as we keep working all night to meet our deadlines (hard working people, we are!!).
Our day starts with a hearty breakfast.
We pick up our bags and race to our classrooms as we already are late for the session (What to do, so many deadlines!). The faculty, always before time and organized, stands waiting for us with disapproving looks. Punctuality is a professional behavior we are working on developing!! We give all kinds of excuses and enter the classroom (well not always!) as the faculty realizes that at the end of the day, we are students and being told off is very casual at this stage of life for us. Or at least, that’s what they think! Class participation, insightful inputs from faculty, listening to peers discussing and debating are the things we miss if we end up being outside classroom due to our poor time management. The enjoyable classroom sessions invariably end with the dreaded part: announcements related to assignments!! Armed with details and deadlines related to projects and assignments we move grudgingly towards the exit wondering why we should be given so much work. Of course thoughts related to food and the smells emanating from the mess lifts our mood and spirit up.
Lunch never fails to delight us. The mess committee members ensure the availability of hot, delicious food. A refreshing break of an hour is enough to recharge us for another session (although it is a bit tough to concentrate on anything after a hearty meal).
Post classes, we get busy in gathering knowledge from different sources, faculty, peers, books, online data bases, magazines, journals!! The open door policy followed throughout the institute caters to our need of instant gratification of intellectual curiosity. The breadth and depth of knowledge that our faculty members possess never ceases to amaze us. No matter how well we prepare, we find it difficult to match up to them. The continuous feedback and support from them helps tremendously and are morale boosters.
With a lot of team based tasks required to be achieved on a day to day basis, a key aspect of life at IMT is group member meetings. We sit in the lawn, we sit on the pavement, we sit in the canteen, we sit practically anywhere and everywhere (after all we do have a Wi Fi campus). What do we do in the group meetings? Delegation of tasks, discussion of base reading materials, fighting on low grades attained, strategizing on how to optimize time to meet deadlines, gossiping about other groups’ performance, preparing our presentations and so on. Exhausted, we head towards the mess for some snacks and refreshment followed by a short nap in our rooms (the best part of the day!) where we are left totally to ourselves, thanks to the single rooms that are provided here.
After a power nap, we set out to perform our individual study, group tasks, visit to the market, sports activities and so on. Evenings are pleasant times in Hyderabad. Irrespective of which month of the year, evenings are very pleasant with the green open campus ensuring fresh cool breeze. Evenings are also time for contemplation. All the hard work does a lot in building our character. We see the incremental value that life at IMT is adding to the enhancement of our Knowledge, professional skills and behavior.
The time after dinner is reserved for recreation- i.e. walking, gossiping, playing indoor games, artwork, club activities etc. It is refreshing!! The clock ticks 11pm and it’s the time to move towards hostel.
We all cherish the memory of the day with our friends, do some social networking and then sleep with thoughts about the next day’s activities and learning propositions.
Truly, hostel life is worth experiencing. All the fun, “Masti” that we do will be remembered by all throughout our lives. Besides doing hard core study, life outside the classroom is to be enjoyed as student phase is the best phase in anyone’s life. Remember, we have but only one life. So KHUL KE JEE LO ISS PAL KO Kyuki ZINDAGI NAA MILEGI DOBARA and you never know- KAL HO NAA HO!!! |
